Planting Seeds on the Coast: Coleg Llandrillo

Published on 26 March 2026 at 12:27

Kene pulled up to Coleg Llandrillo on Wednesday to talk UAM and everything we’ve been building with the people around us.

It wasn’t on some formal industry talk vibe either, more like opening the door a bit. Breaking down what UAM actually is, the kind of opportunities we’ve been part of, and the stuff we’ve helped our members get into along the way. Trying to make the whole “music industry” thing feel a little less distant, a little less confusing.

Because if we're being hoinest, from the outside it can look locked off. Like there’s one narrow way in and if you don’t fit that, you’re out. But that’s not really how it works. There’s bare different paths, side routes, ways to build your own thing if you know where to look. That’s what we were there to talk about.

Big part of it for us was just getting a read on the room too. Hearing where young creatives in the area are at, what they’re into, what they feel like they’re missing. There’s definitely something starting to bubble on the North Wales coast, you can feel it. It’s early, but it’s there.

And to round it off, Jovi stepped up and did a live performance. Full circle moment as well, since they were part of our artist development programme last year. That’s the kind of progression we’re trying to see more of, people growing into their sound and actually getting the chance to share it.

By the end of it, it felt like a proper link-up. The tutors were on it, open to supporting what we’re doing and finding ways to connect things up properly.

UAM’s building, but it’s never a solo thing. Takes a network, takes people backing it.

And this felt like a step in the right direction.

Massive shout-out to Anthem for making the day and particularly Lennon for the opportunity - on his last working day at the college before going to the BBC.
