On 1st August, we welcomed J. Chambers down to the Bay at Ink Gallery, bringing one of Manchester's finest across to North Wales for a night of music, community and good energy.
Known for his reggae and his work in social spaces, it was a real pleasure to have J. Chambers join us and bring his sound to the room. It's always exciting when we get the opportunity to connect artists and audiences from different parts of the country, and this one felt like a particularly good fit.
Supporting on the night was a strong UAM lineup, with Miranda Elined and Kermz from our Artist Development Programme alongside M. Yesekaon and Verbal K. Three different artists, three different approaches, all showing just how much range there is coming out of this part of the country.
That's something we're increasingly excited about at UAM. The collective isn't about pushing one particular sound. We can support mellow, soulful performances just as easily as we can get behind something up-tempo and heavy. Having such a varied group of artists means there are opportunities to come from all sorts of places, and we're here to help people make the most of them.
And honestly, the night was just a vibe.
Everyone brought something different, the crowd were locked in, and we enjoyed every performance. J. Chambers especially brought something special to the room, and we're grateful he made the journey across to share it with us.
