Verbal K
“We've created a community of artists I wish I belonged to when I started my musical journey.”
— Verbal K
Verbal K (Kene Clayton) is a Director, artist, and creative voice emerging from Colwyn Bay through the Underground Artist Movement. Blending sharp lyricism with purpose-driven storytelling, Verbal K has built a reputation for crafting music that balances raw honesty, social awareness, and artistic depth.
Rooted in the traditions of conscious Hip-Hop, his sound combines boom bap foundations, lo-fi textures, and soulful production with poetic cadence and razor-sharp narratives. Drawing from themes of struggle, resistance, resilience, and self-discovery, Verbal K creates music that speaks as much to personal growth as it does collective experience.
Known for his emotionally charged writing and reflective delivery, Kene’s work bridges the underground grit of 90s Hip-Hop with the spiritual weight and vulnerability of modern soul-infused rap. Inspired by artists such as Mos Def, Common, and Loyle Carner, Verbal K delivers music with intention - turning commentary into conversation and art into movement.
As both an artist and director within the Underground Artist Movement, Verbal K continues to champion independent creativity, authenticity, and community-driven expression. More than just music, his work represents message, movement, and meaningful storytelling from one of North Wales’ emerging Hip-Hop voices.
