A Week of Growth at UAM

Published on 22 April 2026 at 11:07

Monday Club brought something special this week. We had our guest PaisleighB come through to connect with the artists, sharing insight, opportunities, and real advice from experience. While those conversations were happening, the rest of the room stayed locked in, pushing the track forward, tightening the structure and layering harmonies across each other’s takes.

It felt like two things happening at once in the best way. Knowledge being passed around, and music being built in real time.

There was a moment where PaisleighB dropped something that stuck with us. When asked what advice she wished she had known earlier, she said, “Not every opportunity is an opportunity for you. So be careful and keep a strong support network around you, but I can see that you’ve all got each other anyway.”

That last part hit home. Because it’s true. Everyone at UAM is on their own path, figuring things out in their own way, but there’s a real sense of backing each other, creatively and beyond that as well. Between all of us, we’ve seen a lot, learned a lot, and continue to grow through it together. That support system is what lets people take risks, push boundaries, and move through whatever comes their way.

We also had some moments during the session that deserve their own spotlight, so we’ll leave those for another post. Just know, things are moving in a big way right now.

Over at the U18 Studio on Tuesday, the energy carried through. We had a few people come down and ended up building two completely new beats from scratch. The first one flipped into a house and bassline direction, which wasn’t expected but definitely worked. After laying down the foundation, Kene worked closely on writing a hook and locking in timing. The growth in confidence and commitment is clear every time she steps into the space.

The second track took on a theme of sunshine, a natural follow-up to a “moonlight” idea from a previous session, completing that circle. No full lyrics yet, but we started shaping the chorus through melodies and humming, letting the structure come together naturally. This one flowed easily, one of those sessions where everything just clicks.

We even brought the mic out early, just to break that barrier a bit. No pressure, just getting used to the idea of recording. Turns out it’s a lot less intimidating when the producer is shouting “1, 2, 3” like James Brown and pushing energy through the room. Somewhere between that and some heavy auto-tune moments, a few cadences started to reveal themselves. Real progress all round.

And it doesn’t stop there. This Saturday, we’re excited to welcome North Walean hip-hop group Organised Chaos to Colwyn Bay. We’ll be at Ink Gallery from 7 to 11, supporting the night and closing things out with a live cypher.

So if you’ve got bars, thoughts, or something to get off your chest over a beat, this is your moment.

Come through and be part of it.
