Same Studio, New Energy

Published on 4 June 2026 at 15:37

This week's U18 session felt a little different.

Maybe it was the fact everyone was bringing fresh ideas. Maybe it was people getting more confident trying things out. Maybe it was just the heat making the studio feel different. Who knows lol.

We kicked things off by working on a remixed cover of Sorry by Joel Corry. It's always interesting seeing how far you can push a track once you stop worrying about getting it "right" and start making it your own. A few changes here, a different feel there, and suddenly you've got something that carries a completely different energy.

After that, we switched gears and started building a brand new track from scratch.

The starting point was a folk-inspired vibe, with guitars laying the foundation and drums giving it some movement. From there, we started layering atmosphere over the top, adding little textures and ideas to bring the whole thing to life. Watching a track take shape from nothing is always one of the best parts of these sessions. One minute it's a blank project file, the next it's got a personality of its own.

That's what we love about these evenings. No pressure to chase perfection, no expectation that every idea has to become a finished masterpiece. Just a room full of people experimenting, learning new things and seeing where the music takes them.

Sometimes all it takes is a guitar, a beat and a bit of curiosity.

The rest usually finds its way.
